The Art of Digital Remixing

I’ll admit right off the bat that I’m not an illustrator. I have no drawing or painting talent whatsoever (aside from stick figure cartoons that my kids find mildly amusing). But one thing I’m somewhat good at is digital remixing of other people’s art.

What the heck is “digital remixing”?

The short and skinny is that digital remixing is simply taking existing art and, using a variety of tools, turning it into something new. “Photoshopping” might be a word for it, but I like to think I take my creations a bit further than that. Here are a few examples.

Anyway, it’s what I do to pass the time. Almost all of these were done on my phone, so they’re not perfect. If I took the time to work on them in Photoshop I’d be able to correct things like perspective and such, but I never get around to it. Digital remixing is my version of casual gaming, or watching cat videos on YouTube.

Speaking of wasting time…I have books to write. Better get back to that. Cheers!
